Dentro de una vitrina móvil, me ubico estática portando joyería mapuche tradicional que usamos las mujeres y vistiendo completamente de negro, con todo mi cuerpo cubierto. En Chile existen museos que saquearon tumbas y casas extrayendo joyas, textiles, utensilios de uso cotidiano y un sinfín de objetos sagrados que hoy se exhiben en maniquíes sin rostro. Esta acción tensiona esa aparición/desaparición de los cuerpos mapuche, que seguimos vivos/as mientras que la institucionalidad estatal intenta borrar nuestra existencia.
Inside a mobile display case, I stand motionless and am dressed completely in black, covering my entire body, wearing only traditional Mapuche jewelry that women wear. In Chile, there are museums that have looted tombs and houses, extracting jewelry, textiles, everyday utensils and a host of sacred objects that are displayed on faceless mannequins now. This action stresses the appearance/disappearance of the Mapuche bodies, which we continue to live while the state institutions try to erase our existence.
